Pensacola Naval Air Station, Building 1500, NAS Pensacola

The Building 1500 Renovation project consisted of the renovation of the historic Building 1500 located on NAS Pensacola.  The building was re-modeled into the new Command Headquarters for NAS Pensacola.  Our scope included topographic surveying of the site, re-surfacing and re-striping an existing 60-space parking lot to add handicap accessible spaces, as well as sidewalk improvements to develop a handicap accessible route from the parking up to and into the existing building.  We added a 90-space parking lot with stormwater collection and treatment facilities, new utility connections to the building, and brought the area around the building into compliance with the Anti-Terrorism Force Protection requirements.  The building was designed to meet the requirements of a LEED Silver rating and was awarded LEED Silver.  A unique aspect of this project was that as the future flagship building on Base, it is located within an archaeological hotspot and required careful coordination between the design team and archeologists with respect to any below-grade improvements.  Fabre Engineering & Surveying also completed the topographic surveying.  Construction cost: $10,598,586.  As of August 29, 2012 - NAS Pensacola Building 1500 won Platinum Honors (highest honors) in the 29th Annual BD+C Reconstruction Awards
